Dorset Drum English Farmhouse Cheddar (14 ounce) by igourmet.com(more) »rank: 1673from: igourmetOur review: :It took us a while to find a Cheddar that could live up to iGourmet's standards. But while visiting the English countryside, we discovered a worthy candidate. This aptly named drum-shaped delight from Dorset sets a new standard for Cheddar excellence. Perfectly aged, hand-dipped in a black wax and packaged in a decorative box, Dorset Drum makes an excellent gift. Exceptionally sweet and tangy, it tastes nothing like any mass-produced Cheddar you have ever sampled. This quality product does come with a price however - it is one of the most expensive Cheddars for sale in America. Detail |

Manchego - Pound Cut (1 pound) by igourmet.com(more) »rank: 5740from: igourmetOur review: :Manchego is Spain's most famous cheese. Produced in La Mancha in Central Spain, true Manchego is made from 100% sheep's milk. Cheeses from Spain are commonly made from sheep's milk because most of the territory is rocky and dry, unfriendly to cows but suitable to raising goats and sheep. The abundance of wild herbs on Central Spain's grazing lands gives Manchego a special taste and aroma. Its flavor is zesty and exuberant while its texture is firm and somewhat dry. Manchego can be recognized by the zigzag pattern etched into its rind. This is created by the rippled surface of the press ... Detail |

Capra Goat - Wild Herb (11.5 ounce) by igourmet.com(more) »rank: 4980from: igourmetOur review: :Creamy and rich, as a goat cheese should be, Capra Goat is aged for but a few weeks, so it is firm enough to slice but creamy enough to spread. This chevre comes from the mountainous Walloon speaking region in the South, a place where goats graze on herbs and grasses in the rugged hills of the Ardennes. In the best-selling Honey flavor, the addition of a drop of sweet Belgian 'liquid gold' gives the cheese a hint of sugar that is extremely pleasing to the palate. Importantly, its sweet side tempers the delightful tanginess inherent in all goat cheeses. Also available ... Detail |

Reblochon Merlemont(more) »rank: 4988from: Gourmet Food StoreOur review: :A cross between a Brie, a Camembert and very similar to the original Reblochon (now unavailable in the United States), Merlemont is a soft, unpressed cheese with a thin bloomy rind washed with brine. Made by the Cooperative of Paturages Comtois, this small disc-shaped cheese is made of cow's milk (55% fat content makes it creamy) and comes wrapped (very much like Brie in that sense). From the region of Franche-ComtĂ©, pair Le Merlemont with light, fruity red wines and serve at room temperature. Detail |
